Biography

Turning pain into purpose

Lucretia Bowman went from a life on the streets, mental institutions, drug addiction and incarceration to becoming a faith-based motivational speaker, recovery advocate, and independent consultant who helps leaders and organizations build sustainable impact through courage, strategy, and lived experience.

The courage to change

Lucretia, with her husband Charles, co-founded the Having The Courage To Change Ministry, developing holistic housing and recovery programs for women rebuilding their lives after addiction, incarceration, and trauma, including New Beginnings House, Eve House, and Ruth & Naomi House. She later served in leadership with City Gospel Mission Recovery Services, supporting large-scale recovery programming for men and women.

Generational impact

Across more than three decades, she has helped raise over $50 million for mission-driven initiatives and now equips leaders to build lasting organizational capacity of their own. Through her executive coaching and consulting practice, Lucretia partners with leaders and organizations seeking stronger fundraising capacity, clearer strategy, and healthier leadership structures. Her work blends spiritual insight with practical systems that help organizations grow with clarity and sustainability.

Planting new seeds

Recognizing that some ‘leaders with a calling’ lack access to professional coaching and strategic guidance, Lucretia also founded Embracing Change, a nonprofit created to serve individuals who cannot afford consulting services but need support to fulfill their calling. The organization helps people develop new approaches to leadership and life while supporting grassroots ministries serving under-resourced communities.

Watering those seeds

Donations directly fund coaching, resources, and organizational development support, including marketing assistance, leadership workshops, outreach and fundraising planning, board development, and strategic guidance.
